As part of the European project Mobilitas (Interreg Med), the Municipality of Misano has designed a new monitoring and communication system for the network of existing cycle and pedestrian paths. The objective is twofold: on one hand we intend to signal the routes in a new, suggestive and effective way, on the other we also want to know exactly how many are those who use them, be they residents, hikers or tourists. For this reason, a new signage has been studied and will be put into operation, which will indicate the path to the sea, urban, nature, school, characterized by different colours and symbols, positioned on wooden poles and highly visible iron supports. The new signage has been positioned on the seafront, from Portoverde to Misano Brasile and in the short it will also find space in the hamlets of Misano: from Misano Monte to Belvedere, from Villaggio Argentina to Santa Monica and Scacciano. On 28 March the Mayor Stefano Giannini accompanied by some Mobilitas partners, Dr. Giuliano Nemarnik of the Regional Development Center of Koper (Slovenia) lead partner of the Project and Dr. Olga Irranca Galati of the IUAV of Venice, wanted to put try the new track directly and in person. The new routes are combined with counter totems, equipped with luminous displays, in the two access points to the cycle path of the waterfront. The counters will report the transit of the cyclists, thus providing information on the number of cyclists, the partial and total count of the passages and therefore on the actual use of the routes. The overall project was carried out in collaboration with Anthea Rimini. This is a significant novelty that marks the start of real monitoring: not only we will look at the existing or to-be-completed km of track, but also the control of the results. In the province of Rimini, they will be the first accounting machines in operation, but even at regional and national level there are currently few municipalities equipped with this equipment. In Portoverde and Misano Brasile, the point at which the two totems will be installed will be completed by new posts, the presence of the bike sharing station and a recharging station for electric cars and electric bikes. In short, a true multimodal station for sustainable mobility, in full harmony with the choices and strategies of the Urban Plan of Sustainable Mobility, just adopted. The mayor, Stefano Giannini, does not hide his satisfaction at having further implemented the path linked to sustainable mobility within the Misano area. "It is an ambitious project that is about to be carried out, which gives a precise meaning to the investments that have been made in recent years for new tracks and to take care of street furniture. Misano becomes a point of reference in the panorama of cycling cities, honouring the yellow flag of the FIAB (recently received) and offering a virtuous cycle system that is also safe for young people who use bicycles together with Italian and foreign residents and tourists " .
